Death Was Arrested

"Alone in my sorrow and dead in my sin, lost without hope with no faith to begin…" This is our plight fellow humans. This is where we start. The Bible paints a pretty clear picture of the state of mankind: Romans 3:10-18, "As it is written, "None is righteous no not one; no one understands; no one seeks God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one. Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive. The venom of asps is under their lips. Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; in their paths are ruin and misery, and the way of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes." Now, I don't know about you, but that sounds pretty bleak. The Apostle Paul wasn't talking about some heathen race of people that are just awful and have no inclination toward anything good much less God, no he was talking about humanity, in hi...

Here again

Hello, my friends! I hope you had a blessed Lord's Day last Sunday.  Both services were filled with Christ-exalting worship and the gospel message was heard and people responded. It was wonderful to observe the two ordinances of the church in one service! The baptisms were amazing and it's always good to remember what the Lord has done for us in observance of the table of Christ. And then wings on Sunday night! Woohoo! Don't you just long for that kind of Sunday every week? I know you do. I was reminded this week at just how important the work of the Spirit of God is. When things don't go as planned or ...

Psalm 23

As we prepare our hearts for and minds to remember the sacrifice of our Lord, the choir and orchestra will be singing a rendition of Psalm 23. You may wonder what in the world Psalm 23 has to do with the body and blood of Christ. Well, you've come to the right place! Let's dissect this simple poem of David and direct our hearts to the cross today. The first three verses of Psalm 23 describe the actions of a good shepherd, he provides for us, he directs us to peaceful places, he shows us where to quench our thirst, and he leads us down right paths. In John 10 Jesus describes Himself as the good shepherd. He speaks of "laying His life down for the sheep" (10:11). This good shepherd cares deeply for His sheep. He protects them. He makes sure they are fed, watered. He guards them from the...
