The Cross

"Hallelujah, thank you Jesus, I was a prisoner, now I'm not!  With your blood you, bought my freedom, hallelujah for the cross."  Hallelujah, for the Cross - Passion "This the power of the cross, Christ became sin for us, took the blame, bore the wrath, we stand forgiven at the cross." The Power of the Cross – Keith and Kristyn Getty and Stuart Townend. Crosses are everywhere. They hang around peoples necks. It is not uncommon today to see tattoos of crosses on human flesh in a variety of shapes and sizes and colors. Crosses hang on the walls of homes and stand in churches and cathedrals all over the world. There are several references in church history from early fathers such as Tertullian and Cyprian that may have employed the use of the cross for symbolic purposes as early as the 2 nd century. The symbol of the cross as representative of Christianity began truly after the conversion of Constantine in the early parts of the 4 th century.  Joh...

Joyful

I'm a BIG fan of musicals. I'm a HUGE fan of movies. When you can put both together…well I'm hooked. One of my all-time-favorite scenes in a movie/musical would be the final song in Sister Act 2. I know…I'm a loser, but still, how can you not love that scene! Van Dyke had graduated from Princeton University, Princeton Theological Seminary, and the University of Berlin and had been invited to speak at several campuses in ...

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is this weekend! I was blessed to be raised by a mom that was super involved in my life. She went to all the games, concerts, shows and whatever else I was involved in. She made sure I was involved in the things of God as much as possible and kept me fed and clothed in the latest fashion. That Miami Vice Don Johnson Easter jacket and shirt were my favorite! She stayed up late to wait for me to get home from dances and asked about who I danced with…which was rather annoying. She came to see my college group sing, and came to all the shows I was at Mo Bap. I'll never forget one night during our run of "Smoke on the Mountain", she was laughing so hard and loud at my character that she actually made me break character and bust up laughing behind a stage piece. Hilarious! To this day it makes me giggle. When I was doing "Forever Plaid" in a few cities across the country she came to several performances. It wasn't cheap and it wasn't a...
