In Christ Alone

Wow! Summer is upon us! Vacations and long weekends at the lake! Summer camps, activities and family fun abound!  Just recently my wife and I took our kiddos to a blueberry farm and picked til our fingers turned blue. I love little excursions such as these to reach into my kids' lives and remind them of God's glorious creation.    As you are vacating and exploring the wonders of summer this year, don't forget about church!  There is nothing greater in the believers' life than congregating with God's people for a morning of worship!  We have given our wonderful choir and orchestra the month of July off to rest and rejuvenate and recruit!  When we come back in August we would love to have you join us!  Come on Wednesday night Aug 1 st at 7:00pm, for our first rehearsal back after the break! "In Christ alone, my hope is found, he is my light, my strength, my song."  These lyrics have permeated the church for the last several years in th...

The Lord is our Salvation

This week we will be celebrating the birth of our nation here at Second.  We will hear from our great orchestra and choir as we honor the men and women that have served our great land.  One of the hallmarks of our founding fathers was that this land would be a nation under God.  John Adams stated: " The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. Dr. Benjamin Rush said: "Christianity is the only true and perfect religion; and… in proportion as mankind adopt its principles and obey its precepts, they will be wise and happy." It certainly seems that we have in many ways abandoned these thoughts.  More and more we are relying on our own ingenuity and intellectual fervency to save this great nation from itself.  However, t...

Amen!

Welcome to Song Talks! "Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised, And His greatness is unsearchable" - Psalm 145:3 "Build My Life" is a song that focuses on two things. How worthy our savior is, and how we respond to His greatness. The song starts out saying that He is worthy of every song we could sing, praise we could bring, and breath we could breathe. His name is above all others, the only one that could save us, and we live for Him and Him alone. His greatness is unsearchable, and He is mighty to save. These words are simple reminders of that truth, and how we need to focus our attention on living whole heartedly for his name. The back end of the chorus is a prayer for God to show us who He is, for us to be filled with His love, and for us to lead in His name.       Holy, there is no one like You There is none beside You Open up my eyes in wonder. Show me who You are and fill me with Your heart and lead me in Your love to those aro...
